Welcome to Welfare Society for Destitute Children
St. Catherine of Siena School and the Orphanage run by “Welfare Society for Destitute Children”- is HOME to a number of underprivileged children. We have children who are orphans, living with their family on the street, run away kids, children of sex workers, children who are affected by HIV/AIDS and children in extreme difficulty under the physically suffering single parent. In the school and orphanage, we undertake the responsibility to rehabilitate these children and take them off the streets by providing shelter, food, quality education, vocational training and by introducing as many awareness programmes in the community with a view to make the children self dependent.
Our home was founded on 7th November 1957 with 23 destitute children. Today we have a total of 240 children, staying in our orphanage with a support staff of 20 residential inmates. We have a total of 300 children studying in the primary & pre-primary school including children from nearby slums. Our school is recognized by the BMC and we follow the SSC Curriculum.

The home provides a child friendly atmosphere with a view to rehabilitate the children and their families by giving them quality counseling and guidance through Happy Feet and Happy Home projects since our children come from backgrounds of abuse, poverty, child labour and related psychological problems. It is important to deal with these issues with children in this early developmental stage before it manifests itself in many other ways.
We try our best not to turn away from any child in need, so your help in any form is always appreciated. Would you like to help us? Please visit our home or contact us on Tel. No. 26422859.
We reach out to you though we know
You have important things to do ..............
Promises to keep and miles to go
Before you sleep,
But spare a thought for us,
Lend a hand and help us grow!
